Tkachuk is a good fit for the Rangers but not cap wise. Zibinajad Tkachuk Strome Reilly Kravstov Crouse all need new contracts at the end of the season. And both your bad contracts stop the trade from happening so we can't take cap back.

Forgot Fox. You won't have enough cap and you will lose players.

While the Tkachuk speculation by Shane O'Brien is BS, that is actually an interesting start, so I will give credit where it is due. That said, IMO a future 1C or adding to Tkachuk for a 1C needs to be involved or I wouldn't pull the trigger; unless it is well beyond a "fair" offer.

I also think Rags fans value Strome more than other people. Frankly I don't think he will repeat his success elsewhere, when I think of Strome I think of the 30-35 point player that he was in Edmonton and in his final 2 years with the Islanders.

The problem is the fact that we’d rather go for a 1C with that package stater

No chance I am giving up Miller in a deal for another winger. Not giving up Miller, who is a future 1st pair LHD, for anyone right now.

Well, notice I traded Strome for a bottom 6/fringe 2nd line player. I certainly dont over value him.

As far as Tkachuk, it doesnt really matter what we think. No one really knows what will happen there. And anyway he supposedly wants to go to STL.

Well I think people need to understand what it will cost, at the very least to get Tkachuk.

No chance that Rielly trade is accepted, I know he is a rental but a 3rd and a mid to low end prospect is not enough for a 40-50 point D-Man

You missed a couple of my notes. Strome is traded. Reilly and Oleksiak arent coming back, theyd be 1yr rentals. So that 6.75m gained, plus another 1.5m gained from Hank’s buyout ending opening up 8.25m. Theyd have about 35m in cap space to resign Zib, Fox, Tkachuk, Greenway and Kravtsov. Its doable.

As Lunatik said in the first post Shane O'Brien's claims on Tkachuk were completely debunked by reliable insiders for the Flames.

Anyway, as a player hes a great fit for us, but overall what it would cost us player wise as well as the financial work around to fit in his 9m qualifying offer may do us more harm than good.

I'd take Greenway 100% of the time over Strome. Greenway is younger, trending upwards, infinitely more physical, has a better contract with team control left. Strome has also been able to suckle at the teet of Panarin, while Greenway plays with offensive studs like Marcus Foligno and Joel Eriksson Ek.

Most of the Wild fans on here seem to not mind this trade at all. Maybe a tiny tweak here and there but its not unreasonable.
