The Leaf's are in their contending window right now so moving Rielly makes no sense and IF they did they would be looking for a piece that can help now.

Maatta and AA are pieces that can help now, they should play Sandin in Reilly's place.Doubtful they will be able to re-sign Reilly,so better get something for him before he walks for free.

On a contending team Sandin is not ready to play top 2 minutes. The Leaf's need to add to their defense not trade away their #1 D Yes Maatta and AA would help but not at the cost of Reilly. The Leaf's can and will resign him.

If they can they should, but if he signs say 7+ mil, that would demolish their depth. They would have to sign Campbell next year too,or get a new goalie, which is not gonna be cheap.

that's something you worry about next year. With the new Disney/TNT TV contract I think the cap will start to move up for 22/23 season. as a contender you take your shot at the cup and lose the player to UFA if you have too but you never make your team weaker.

If the Leaf's had another target in UFA then making this deal and signing the UFA you want would make sense but I think they would want more that that in return

That's fair,I too think they should add next year, probably their best chance to win. Tampa is going to lose some players,Boston is on decline,If they fail next year too, then retool the team starting from the management.

I feel like Carl and a third would be enough for Killorn, but there may be enough teams interested to drive the price up some. Reilly offer is solid but I feel like another team would offer a better package. Again hard to say. But I like this a lot from the LA side. Good targets. Good fits. Looks like a playoff team imho

Yeah, honestly I want them to bring Martinez back, but if he does not sign they should target a guy like Reilly. I do feel like the Kings are playoff ready,a full year of Byfield, maybe even Turcotte ,Kalyiev and Kupari, alongside adding a couple top 6 forawrds(as they intend to do) will make the forward core extremely deep. Meanwhile our defense and goaltending are already pretty underrated in the league.

For sure. If the younger players take time to adjust maybe they aren’t competitive just yet. But what I like about adding Killorn, Reilly, and Coleman is you insulate them and put them in a position to succeed. You check all the boxes and have all the right guys in the right places. Maaaaybe swap Byfield and Vilardi to start the season, but overall I like it a lot

It would not, here's why,Kings need offense from the blue line,Lindell is very good defensively, but Kings already have good defensive guys, maybe not as good as Lindell, but pretty damn solid. Meanwhile we lack winger depth, and Kempe is one of our best wingers. I think if you're looking to add scoring in Dallas,Kings are the last team you should go to.

unfortunately I think both Boston and Tampa will be still strong for the coming years
