Why would you give up that much for a guy, you might be able to get for free in the summer. Also the leafs are looking to add a top 4 rh dman to their group not swap top 4 rh dman. Even though Shattenkirk is an upgrade it still leaves the leafs in the situation of only having 3 good dmen and having to pay twice as much to sign Shttenkirk then Zaitsev in the summer.

Why are the Leafs team that has to give up assets for UFA Shattenkirk? Zaitsev and second rounder for rental Shattenkirk. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is so one-sided it is offensive. Zaitsev for Shattenkirk... How does that solve the depth issue...zaitsev is a true gem they found.who Will cost less than shittykirk who has enjoyed sheltered minutes in St.louis behing only the fourth best defenseman in St.louis.

I see more of a Bozak and a 2nd for Shatty deal. Make the pick a 1st if he resigns. Zaitsev is not the trading piece for Toronto its Bozak or JVR in my opinion. And the Blues need a center.
