Has anyone noticed that Eichel hasn't been playing that good this year??? Commen

Description
It just seems that Eichel has been putting up a decent amount of points, but his play has been very sub par with what I expected for this year.

I'm more excited to watch Reinhart or O'Reilly this year than I am to watch Eichel, he just doesn't use his speed like he did last year, and I'm wondering if it's because of Bylsma or is he just getting comfortable in the Sabres system and feels like he doesn't have to give it his all.

Either way, very disappointing and frustrating.

Comments are very welcome.

he missed some time early in season cause of a high ankle sprain.. it could possibly still be bothering him and not 100% better

For a guy who missed how long with an ankle injury, from what I've seen I can see what you're saying about him not being speedy flashy, but an ankle injury is a hard thing to just bounce back from. In his second season, showing the poise and control he's showing after sustaining an injury like he did on a team that usually struggles, I think this is going to be little bit of a different year as he adjusts still and gets back in his groove. I mean, if you hurt your ankle, no matter how long it took you to heal - in his case quite a long bit - you're gonna be a little nervous to go full tilt on it again.

His lack of top end speed he had last year can be pointed to the 20 games he missed with a high ankle sprain, That is going to bother and limit him probably for the rest of season. We just as fans have to be happy he's putting up points while probably playing at 80%

He missed ~6 weeks with an ankle injury. That is a lot of conditioning lost, and ankle injuries take forever to fully heal. He should be back to his normal form next season.

The team isn't good, so anything wrong with JE will stand out.

He'll get there once his injury heals fully. Buffalo isn't the best team either, hope they don't push him back in too early.

Thanks, I like the way you've made me empathize with Eichel, sure helps me put it in a better perspective on the situation. Your answer was very refreshing.

Yeah, that would probably be the biggest mistake the Sabres could make right now.

if Eichel is operating at only 80% right now, then I'd bet he could have an 80 point season next year, and that would be something surely welcomed in Buffalo. Been liking your Sabres post's keep it up.

growing team is more like it, but sometimes they look the same. Here's to hoping Eichel can hit 50 points this year.
