Giving up that much for Duchene is a mistake if you ask me. Like the sharp trade though, if dallas makes him available he should be an affordable addition to our lineup.

I'm going the other way, I think the Duchene trade is excellent for both sides, exactly what Colorado needs for him. I'm just meh on Sharp all around.

I get that having duchene now would be a big boost for montreal's Center depth but I think sergachev is too important to the future of this team to trade, based on what he projects to be. Adding duchene's 6 million contract for 3 more season will cause cap problems especially with price, galchenyuk, Radulov, bealieau, danault, mccarron, pacioretty etc. all needing new contracts. Meanwhile sergachev's entry-level contract would be a huge advantage over the next 3 years.
I'd still be pumped if montreal got duchene but I don't think it's a necessary trade and I think adding a 1st round pick is total overpayment. I believe duchene for plekanec and Sergachev is more fair.
