Detroit declines. Going to take a hell of a lot more than that to take on Neal.

I don't think there's any chance he leaves Washington but if he did, 10.5M x 3 years to play alongside McDavid would be pretty tempting.

That Neal trade is laughable.

Why would Wings accept?

Do not tru the Staal deal because that was one year and a position of need.

Do not say it helps Wings make cap floor, we have several RFA's to sign and then a goalie and another 10 players to have a 23 man roster.

So I ask again why would Wings make this deal?

Imagine a powerplay of

Ovechkin-McDavid-Draisaitl
RNH-Nurse

omg... that's illegal.

The average age of those FA signings is 34

The average term is just under 3

Cumulative cap hit is 20M$+ yearly

Golly

Doesn't seem to be a pay cut though as I doubt he'd get more than 5M$ and his last cap hit corresponded mostly his early 30s

Definitely lots of playing time available in EDM

Maybe his 5th option ultimately?

Maybe you missed 2nd 3rd and 5th round picks the red wings are in rebuild and have lots of cap space they would do it.

When the Ovechkin lowball isn't the most unrealistic part of your post.

Oh I think you're right about his value I just think Rask hangs them up before going to Edmonton for that.

Lowball? Ovi now 35 and hasn't scored comfortably above a point per game in almost a decade. Possession numbers dropping as well.

Last UFA who had won both a Richard Trophy and a Conn Smythe trophy within the last five years to change teams? I'll wait.

edited ten hours later because that doesn't hapen: I'll make it easier. Last player to change teams by any means who had won a Conn Smythe and three Art Ross/Maurice Richard trophies within the previous four years. Oilers fans should all know this one. Come on. Starts with a W? And only had one since?

When all the WSH posts give Ovechkin four years, a post giving him three years at the same tire-kicking cap hit is a lowball.

I had suspicions that you were trolling and this post confirmed it.

As much as I'd love ovi to be an oiler it probably won't happen but if it did the powerplay would be the best of all time and illegal for how many points it would produce.

Sorry, Yzerman retained little over 1 million for a 4th for 1 year, you are asking them to take on over 9 million over twoa years it will cost you more. Cap space is now a weapon in the flat cap era and what was offered is no where close. If 1.5 million is a 4th then 6 times that cost more.

Please do not assume becauseWings have space they will piss it away for nothing.
