Hard pass from Detroit. It's all about what is best for the rebuild and taking a gamble on Mantha's ceiling is worth more than that return to the rebuild, specifically. If they decide to move Mantha, it will need to be for a very handsome return. There is just no incentive for us to move him for anything less than a haul. We're not here to make other teams better.

i really dont think mantha is worth JVR and Hagg alone right now. he's regressed a ton and JVR has emerged as a huge positive for this Flyers team

I don't understand though why you expect a haul for Mantha? He's 26 so he isn't that young anymore, he has only had two 20 goal seasons, he has definitely not taken the steps in his development many expected. Meanwhile, JVR's contract is shorter so it would come off the books sooner, and he is producing more than Mantha currently. Hagg is a capable 3rd pairing D who has a small cap hit and Zamula would immediately become one of your top prospects on D. I think it's perfectly fair, especially with the net 1 draft picks you would be acquiring.

I agree, but maybe a change of scenery would be good for him. I think he would fit in well here on a reasonable cap hit and still only 26. Versatility at both wings spots is attractive also for me.

Like I said above, it's not even about what he's "worth", it's about what makes sense for our rebuild. We're better off taking a gamble on him turning into that 40 goal scorer we projected him to become, over trading him at this stage of the rebuild. He has been on an absolute tear the past 3 weeks and I'd rather see how that plays out, over trading him for an expensive, aging JVR, a bottom pairing defenseman, an unproven defense prospect, a mid round pick and a late pick. Just doesn't make sense.

A 40 goal scorer?? Oh cmon now, he only has 2 20+ goal seasons and over a full year his pace would be less than 20 this year. What are you smoking over there in Detroit cause I'd love to have some.

You haven't watched the games, he has been a beast out there, also... 11 pts in the last 16 games. If you want to just cherry pick and omit the 4 points over the 2 games prior....

Just ignore that entire reply and only read it the way you want to, huh? I'll never understand people that try and trade for him and then **** on him in the same breath. I was pretty clear that your value wasn't the issue, it's the fact that it doesn't benefit Detroit to sell him for anything less than an overpay. I'm done repeating myself for you to cherry pick and split hairs.

All I'm pointing out is, OK, you wanna gamble on him turning into a 40 goal scorer, ok fine. What makes you think he could ever become one??? I can say, oh yeah, we signed Laughton on the hopes that he can become a 40 goal scorer? You can say that about anybody, funny thing is Laughton plays middle/bottom 6 minutes and Mantha plays top 6 mins and gets PP time and only has 4 more goals than Laughton does. But OK, you want to hope he becomes a 40 goal scorer, that's fine. Enjoy that fantasy land.

And I'm not ****ting on him, i obviously want him, but do not expect him to be a 40 goal or even 30 goal scorer. He's in his prime at 26, he's a big body (something the flyers desperately need), he can play both wing positions, and has experience on the PP. If i wanted someone i think could be a 40 goal scorer id go after Hoffman, he has much more of a possibility of scoring 40 in a year than Mantha does, prob would get him much cheaper too.

Just confirmed - Vrana, Panik, a 1st AND a 2nd from Washington. So, yea, like I said - a haul.

yeah that's a solid return for him. Panik is obviously a throw in but Vrana a 1st and 2nd I'd def take over JVR, Zamula and a 3rd. However, still doesn't change the fact you personally are overvaluing him. Maybe I'm wrong who knows, not the first time Washington has severely overpaid at the deadline.
