Should the Bruins be conservative sellers

Description
Controversial statement given that this team roster wise is a playoff team. BUT the circumstances have changed since the beginning of the year. We have two top 4 guys in Carlo/Lauzon OUT, DeBrusk struggling/on Covid list again and then a list of players (Kuraly, Pasta, Krejci) on the covid list. Oh and Tuukka is out for an unknown amount of time. Kase continues to skate but no time table for a return. With the TDL a little less than a month away I dont see the B's doing much waiting for the likes of Carlo, Lauzon and Tuukka to come back. Never mind the extended period of time they'll have with no practice and potentially missing some key forwards if this isn't a false positive outbreak. I'd probably be okay with moving Krejci and Halak. Moving Bjork for what you can would be a positive and if Kase can come back this season you could try to move him as well. They have decent enough pieces to add picks and continue the youth movement. Just some food for thought. Its an aggressive take for sure but we've seen what a covid outbreak can do to a team and the way it effects them on the ice during and after the players contracting covid return.

One last thing, I'd definitely try to move Ritchie just because of his value but I think the Bruins want him back and dont see him being moved since he remains under team control this season. So that's why I left him on the team.

Please NOTE: I picked the teams at random. So if cap doesn't work then I'm sorry. Krejci could go to the Canes imo realistically. And I think Halak would be a nice piece for EDM to add. I'd offer EDM Tuukka but I dont see Tuuks waiving for a trade or having a team on his list that would want him.

No.

Even with a third of their top 6 potentially missing time and half the top 4 already out? Too knee jerkish? It isn't like they dont have the core for next year with a good chunk of cap space left. We all know Sweeney won't pull the trigger on a trade that will put them over the top now so why not just look towards next year and the future?

I don’t understand the logic of making a bunch of trades and in the description saying “I picked the teams at random” so there really is no point to discuss any of this because it’s just names out of a hat.

They're in the COVID Protocol. Games have been postponed until Tuesday. That's all we know right now so I will wait for more updates. We'll see for Sweeney.

Yeah - Need to wait it out. They just need to get in and get healthy. If you are telling me none of Rask, Carlo, Lauzon, Pastrnak, Debrusk, Frederic and Smith never make it back, Yes.

I just don't see that happening. I actually think this could end up benefitting the Bruins at the deadline. Guys like Steen, Vaakaninen, Achan, Senyshyn could get some run and convince a team...

Yeah everything you and @bhavikp27 said I agree with. And I'm not here saying they all won't be back within two weeks (at least the Covid guys), but Carlo's time table is unknown, Kase struggling to get cleared makes me think Carlo could very well run into the same issue. Lauzon still out 3-4 weeks I believe. Rask we've really heard nothing about a time table except that he's working on getting right. To me there's a lot more unknowns which leaves the Bruins in a weird, vulnerable spot for the deadline. And like I said we've seen guys/teams in all sports struggle to come back after a team outbreak. Idk I just think it's a conversation that isn't really talked about but the opportunity to do so is growing.

I picked teams that would likely be buyers at the deadline. It was more for of a conversation amongst Bruins fans about what they do at the deadline. I was gonna switch Krejci to the Canes but I was just lazy and didn't change it. I think EDM would truly be a good spot for Halak. Kase and Bjork are kind of wild cards for teams to even be interested in so they're just there at random but I'd move both if the Bruins became a seller.

I think your values are off a bit too. Especially with Krejci - I know he hasn't scored goals, but he is still producing and had some bad luck. He's led the playoffs in scoring twice. He is just about as solid as a second line center as any team can throw out there. Not talking about teams like Edmonton, Toronto or Pitt with two1C's, but you could easily get a 1st especially if you are retaining salary.

I don't think it's worth trading Kase for that. His promise is worth more than a guy who might play an NHL game in 3-4 years.

Also, I feel a little like it's selling low on Bjork. I really have no idea why he isn't scoring 20 goals regularly. When he plays with skilled players, he seems lost, when he's on the 4th line, he looks like a superstar (hyperbole).

The prices for guys like Eckholm seem insane. I want the guy, but not for a 1st, Vaak, Debrusk and Studnicka. That's two pieces too much. He isn't THAT much better than Grzelcyk, and if Carlo is out long term than it really makes no sense.
