I think it’s safe to say Rakell’s now off the trade block.. for the time being anyway. It’s gotta be an offer Bob Murray can’t refuse.

Way too much for the isles to give up for a guy whose production has been declining over the years.

Only 1 season left as opposed to three, though. That's the reason to do this deal. Devils get a lower cap hit, Ducks get fewer years.

I think Henrique-Subban could be part of a deal but cant see the Devils taking the entire Henrique contract without retention no matter who is going back. Devils have no cap issues now so theres no real need to get rid of that Subban contract cause its not killing them. But they are looking at having to re-sign Hughes, Blackwood, Bratt, Zacha, Severson, Smith, etc. to likely significant deals in the next few years so theres no way they want that 6 mil from Henrique on the books. Like the idea tho think maybe it could work with other picks/retention but Devils unlikely to mortgage future cap space for a little relief right now.

Henrique isn’t bad tho. Eakins and Murray are.

Six games isn’t that large of a sample size if teams made decisions based on six games they’d be in a lot of trouble

I disagree. The Ducks aren't making the playoffs this year, and would be a long shot next year. Trade him while his value is at it's highest.

As for everything else on here-I don't see the point in taking cap dumps from teams, to still be bad and also a cap ceiling team. I get that we're getting extra picks and assets, but I'd rather seem them spend the money on good players this offseason, or at least have the space to add when they get to that point.

I will be the first to agree with the small sample size alert, but it's nice to see what he can do while finally playing with a couple of decent line mates.

I'm in a feisty mood this morning though, and think, if we're trading Rakell, the return should be no less than the Pageau trade.

As a swede and a huge Rakell fan, I would still say that youre off here. Pageau is one of the most versatile guys in the league. One of the best PKer, faceoff, producing at a high rate on a 3rd line role. Rakell is a good shoter, sure. But not nearly as good as Pageau in all the different areas of the game. Add his decline over the past seasons (though a really incompetent offensive Anaheim team).

With that said, if we were to include a cap dump in Komarov, I think the price increases obviously.

Sure, but Pageau also came over as a pending UFA. Rakell comes with an extra year, that I'm sure the Ducks would have no issue retaining on him to get a higher return. I see no reason why they couldn't get a 1st+good prospect, which is essentially the Pageau return (1st+2nd+3rd two years later)

Actually no, it was revealed that Lou made a deal with Pageau before the deal was strucked, therefore the prize.

If Rakell was made available and there was a bidding war for him, I could see it, but in my opinion he is not at this moment.

Honestly, if I were GMBM, unless I get an overwhelming offer for him, I'd keep him. I don't really feel like the Ducks are in a position where they should be taking on multiple years of bad contracts at this point, and I'd much rather use the space this summer to target a high profile dman and a top 6 forward, whether it be through free agency (DOUGIEEEEEEE) or trade. Lots of young guys who are starting to play decently.

If anyone is interested in Silfverberg though, I'm all ears.

Yeah, I here you. Rakell is a good player with a great contract. Maybe the best thing would be to boost his value next year and play him with Zegras, and then maybe trade him at next years deadline. Hopefully somewhat a normal deadline with a buyers market, rather than a sellers market.

Playing a bit with Lundestrom/Comtois right now and they're lighting it the heck up. On another note, I was surprised (and happy) that the Ducks decided to keep Zegras with the team and burn a year of his ELC though. I get that you want the extra year of cheap control, but IMO, this is the best spot for him, and I'm not a huge fan of screwing around with a players service time.

Lenny, who is your best prospect except Zegras and Drysdale in your opinion? I dont know if Lundeström, Comtois, Terry, Jones, Steel even count as prospects anymore either.

Perreault, Tracey?

Too much from NYI. I would do Koivula, Komarov, and a 2nd for Rakell, but even then I'd rather not trade for him. He's not the guy we need.

Believe me, I’m all about trading Rakell when his value is highest. I was kinda speaking to the type of dude Murray is. I guarantee you he thinks the Ducks can still salvage this season.

Just imagine what happens if the ducks win the next 3 vs LAK and SJS lol
