I don't hate the value if I'm the Penguins. Swapping McCann for Mikeyev has the benefit of swapping a player they would need to protect in the expansion draft with one they don't. Problem is that Mikeyev seems to have really fallen off from what he was before his injury last year so that's a bit concerning.
Dermott would be a really nice add when everyone is injured. But what happens when the Penguins get somewhat healthy? There's already a logjam among the LD with Pettersson who is around the same age as Dermott but signed long-term, Dumoulin who is singed for the next couple of years, and Matheson who is signed for like 6 years. That doesn't even include Pierre-Olivier Joseph who is 21 and has outplayed all of them. If Dermott was right handed, I'd do it 100%, but the LHD logjam is an issue. If anything, the Penguins will probably be looking to move one of these defensemen this year.
