Blockbuster who says no

Description
As a Bruins fan I sit here and think about how much I hate the idea of moving Carlo. Moving Pasta still is an asinine idea of itself. But I also think about how big it would be to lock up the top pair of our defense long term. Idk if Quinn Hughes is the right guy for this type of blockbuster idea. I just picked a young high profile LHD. I thought about doing a 1 for 1 but I doubt that VAN would've done that without getting some sort of replacement on the back end and vise versa for BOS. So I just took the idea people talked about over the summer and I think it was Carlo for Boeser straight up? Sorry if I remembered incorrectly but that's where I got the idea of value from. Fun idea, I'm gunna post a line up for VAN just to see what it would look like.

Would make more sense to compare same position no? Also kind of tough to compare Carlo vs Hughes as they don't even play the same style of hockey.

Hugues is or will be a #1 dman
Carlo is a #4 or might be a #3 dman

Pasta Franchise RW
Boeser 1RW

It’s my opinion tho, but I understand both team declining

I just think in the long term that’s better for Boston

Guess I don't buy the Quinn hype. Sure he put up 53pts, but nearly half came via the PP. He also led his team in turnovers and was sheltered with nearly a 60% oZS% last year. He's basically Torey Krug and I wouldn't consider Krug a #1 d-man. In fact I've said many times here that Krug is really a 3rd pairing PP specialist.

Guy that just lead the NHL in goal scoring and he’s on an awesome contract. I like Hughes a lot, but i just can’t see a way boston moves pastrnak.

Carlo is a number 2 today. Problem is, he definitely isn’t playing the left side, and the bruins best player just happens to also be a right shot D.

Yeah I dont think the Bruins would think about ever moving him at this point. and the same thing goes for VAN with Hughes imo.

The guy plays a game that isn’t going to be glorified unless you’re glued to the screen for most bruins games. Not a ton of points, but he is for sure a rock solid number two d man. There have been a lot of bruins games recently where Carlo is the best player on the ice for either team. The last series against toronto stands out. I remember a conversation between Lebrun and McKenzie where they were saying, “hmmm, Bergeron, marchand, Tavares, Matthews, pastrnak, marner, mcavoy, Reilly?” Nope. Best player on the ice tonight was that d man that had 10 points all year.

The guy plays so many intense minutes. If the bruins are leading and theres an important moment in the game, either mcavoy or Carlo are on the ice: always.

Personally, I think the Bruins are quicker to say yes than VAN. On paper I love the way the line up looks even without Pasta, the ride side of the D definitely takes a major blow but overall I'm okay with it. How it translates onto the ice could be a completely different story. Offensively I think we'd be perfectly fine as Hughes and Boeser will likely make up for Pasta production and then some, but it would rely on guys like Lauzon and Urho to step up. The VAN mock line up is very underwhelming on paper imo.

I think its inherent that a guy without the offensive numbers will be. Similar situation is pesce in Carolina.
