I look forward to the massive problems that having an over-abundance of young D with no where to play is going to cause on the Leafs. Just as it did with Buffalo last year.
Bogo will be in the lineup - he is the kind of D that Toronto needs more of, but undoubtedly will be on the third pairing (and having him play with Muzzin - outside of some specific circumstances like protecting the lead in the third - makes zero sense. The only place the Leafs' don't need more of a presence is alongside Muzzin).
Lehtonen will be playing, or the Leafs' can say goodbye to their overseas pipeline (although personally I think that would be a good thing).
That leaves Holl and Dermott fighting over a spot.
Holl costs 2M. And at that price, he shouldn't be sitting. But as he is soon to be 29 and no other team is going to want him he might accept being the main scratch. Just as Marincin doesn't mind the role. Simply an embarrassing contract for someone who had played 52 games (and averaged 15 minutes a game in them). It is funny that people think Seattle is going to take Holl.
Dermott is 23 and has been on the Leafs' third pairing for 3 seasons. He should be advancing up the lineup, not sitting. (In reality he should have been advancing up the lineup long before now, and getting time in on the right side). If he is sitting I expect him to be asking for a trade before long.
Sandin played 28 games last year. If he is banished to the AHL he should be asking for a trade before long.
