Absolutely shocked your trading Bonino. Do you forget what he did for you last year and pretty much anytime he's in the playoffs?

I think it would be simply for cap reasons. By WPG not being willing to take some extra salary back possibly, they limit the teams capable of dealing with them. If it means taking Fehr on for a year, I think that's a small price to pay to be able to get a solid deal back.

You guys act like Fehr's deal is an albatross. Sure it's a little high for his rate of production but it's really not that bad and he's definitely a solid enough bottom 6 player to be useful on any roster. He probably doesn't have much standalone trade value but he's certainly not a "deal breaker". My main issue with the Cogliano trade is that he hasn't really played a lot of center in recent years and his FO % is pretty bad so losing Bonino and Fehr leaves a pretty gaping hole in the roster for D-zone face-offs behind Sid and Cullen (because Malkin has always been pretty bad from the face-off circle too). Although I will say that Hagelin-Cog-Rust would be the fastest line in the history of the NHL.

Yeah, Bonino for Cogliano is pretty confusing, especially since it seems to be a 1 for 1 trade to play the same position (3C). And Bonino is cheaper at the moment as well.

I don't think you'd be too hard pressed to find a team to take Fehr's salary as part of the trade. He's definitely still a more than capable bottom 6 guy, and the $2 Mill isn't a cap breaker by any means.
