I really don't think he has. But either way, take out the 21 and 22 first rounders and add Byram. Then that's a sure fire done deal and probably one of the better ones the Sabres could get.

If mackinnon said he doesnt want to stay in colorado, it might be.. newhook kadri and 3 firsts is more than enough... look at the Karlsson trade as an example

I generally don't think your too far off.
1. I don't think buffalo would want kadri
2. Replace greer with jost and add kaut and lower latest 1 to a second

If he hasnt asked for a trade there would be no reason to move your franchise player who's approaching his prime, locked up for term

I agree 100%, just proposing a deal on the off chance you're correct

Ok, Karlsson was 28 where as Eichel is 23. Karlsson had one year left on his contract where as Eichel as 6 years left. Karlsson is even now making more than Eichel.

What's your point? Karlsson was regarded as the league top dman he asked for a trade and his value when down dramatically because teams knew that Ottawa had to trade him...

This is obviously assuming that Eichel wants out before next season. I'd hope that this offer beats out what other teams would be willing to do. Kadri acts as a stop-gap considering Buffalo doesn't have a top 6 centre other than Staal otherwise. Also Kadri is a pretty good player and should help the team as a veteran presence going forward. Newhook had an unbelievable year and is probably worth as much as Byram as an asset. At least I would rate him just as highly. AJ Greer is still pretty young and worthwhile as a depth piece.

The three firsts are self-explanatory and just provide Buffalo with a wealth of assets.

That’s convenient to ignore the risks that existed with Karlsson compared to Eichel because of age as you can clearly tell based off that contract. Also convenient to ignore that Karlsson was a rental and also pretty sure had gone through a serious injury.

What are you talking about.. he got a bigger contract than eichel, and his injury was in 2013 and he went on to play his 3 best seasons after that..

I’m talking about the injury in 2017 where he messed up his heel... not that much before he got traded. Regardless, Eichel is five years younger than Karlsson at the time of the trade and signed for 5 years longer at a very good contract. I don’t understand why people keep making these disrespectful proposals. If you want a player like Eichel than you gotta pay.

Just because the nhl has changed since Karlsson was an rfa doesnt mean that eichel is on a better deal.. the nhl didnt pay kids for their rfa contract years and now they do..(mathews, marner, mcdavid, eichel, aho, rantanen..etc)

And since when is 10mil for 8 years a good deal? 6.5 for 7 is a great deal

If you are talking about the Mack contract, he might have been able to get a little more but he really didn’t do anything until a year after that deal started to deserve a big contract but nice revisionist history. Also way to ignore salary cap differences as well as maximum contract lengths when discussing Karlsson as RFA
