Taylor Hall 2021-22 projection

Created by: Richard88

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm not a huge fan of the idea of signing a huge deal with a guy who has only three 55+ point seasons in 10 years, and rarely plays over 70 games.

That said, Sakic did try to sign Panarin so maybe he'll go after Hall as well, particularly if Hall is open to signing for around $9m. He would be easy to fit into the cap structure in 2020/21, however he's a bit of a squeeze in 2021/22, even if it is doable...

Note that I've tried to keep some realism by not trading Erik Johnson, but obviously the easiest thing to do to afford Hall would be to move EJ.

Johnson has a NMC yes, but I figure that he'd waive since he won't get selected anyways.

Regardless, we could simply trade Graves before the ED if Johnson needs to be protected, so either way we can get full value in a trade for Graves and keep the rest of our Dmen.

The highest reported offer was 4 years $12.5 million, which would've brought him to the end of MacKinnon's contract.

And what was Sakic's offer to Panarin?

Sakic offered $12.5m x 4 years, which would have put Panarin equal with McDavid, but for only 4 years so as to not go beyond 2023 when Mackinnon needs a raise.

He also offered $11.6m x 7 years which is in line with what Rangers offered.

Sakic said in a conference call just after July 1st that he was "in it until the very end", but Panarin simply chose NY instead.

Here's an article by Dater confirming the story:

    https://coloradohockeynow.com/2019/07/03/exclusive-avalanches-offer-to-panarin-would-have-tied-mcdavid-for-highest-paid-player-in-nhl/

Moral of the story: don't be surprised if/when Sakic tries to land Hall or Pietrangelo this offseason.

Thats a cup winning team youve constructed. However, I think Grubauer is probably going to want a lot more than 4.8 Mill, regardless of whether he's worth it or not.

Also, not necessarily related to your team but I really don't like the idea of signing Landy to a long term deal with a high AAV. As much as he is the captain and we should do whatever we can to keep him, his game is going to keep deteriorating quickly and even now he's not a very strong player offensively.

    You're probably right on Grubauer.

Ideally we can get Landeskog for under $8m, but his stats speak for themselves. He's a 65+ point forward with excellent defense and intangibles, as well as being the face of the team as captain. Keep in mind that Anders Lee and Hayes got $7m x 7 years with worse stats than Landeskog.

Yeah I'm not disagreeing with what you gave Landeskog at all. Thats probably close to what he will get. I just don't like it.
