Description

This would be for a world cup, probably in late 2021. I took 3 skaters and a goalie as scratches, even though the rules would most likely only allow 3 total. I put the best honourable mentions in scratches, IR and LTIR based on position.

Another thing. I hate to say it, but our goalie options kind of stink. A couple of has-beens, a couple of guys that may be one-offs and a 21(?) year old.

Note: I made this quickly. So I apologize for any really stupid mistakes!!

There are so many honourable mentions, it is not even funny. I went with the team that I would personally pick, partially because of line combinations and some players that simply cannot be ignored when it comes to talking about wearing the Red and White. I'd like to hear what you have to say, but please do not turn this into a crazy battle about who is good or bad or not.

I would also like to acknowledge that I probably adjusted a bit to what would most likely be picked. Some players are not great analytics-wise, but would be chosen for their careers and/or skill.

All leafs here should make the team, but are too high up in the lineup, except rielly, only because Gio surely won't be good enough by then. Chabot would still be ahead of him most likely though. Gio will be like 38

I completely agree. The combinations were more about having lines that I thought would be super cool to see (i.e. the Nova Scotia line). I am also a Leafs fan in case you couldn't tell... haha. There is definitely an argument to be made that there will be some young players that will make it over Gio. Shea Theodore is another real contender for the spot imho. The other option is that a righty like Dougie plays the left and a guy like Ellis, Parayko or even Makar makes it.
