I just can’t justify giving up that much for kreider. 1st and zboril. Tops.

No interest in Zboril. The ask will be Studnicka, which is likely to be denied. Frederic, Lauko and the 1st probably gets it done. I think we will end up being unimpressed by the offers and extend him to a regrettable contract anyway.

Someone else available that is better? Never said he’s Richard. Never even said I’m on board with what Gorton wants for him. McKenzie reported last night they’re asking for 1st, top prospect (which Boston has 1, maybe 2 of) and another lower level piece, plus possibly a conditional pick if Kreider extends. I laughed at that, it’s not happening.

You forget what they gave up for a month of concussed and over the hill Rick Nash?

I think that makes sense if he had another year on deal...but it is a lot for rental.

I'd pay that for Palmieri. But for Kreider, would take out one of those pieces.

Bobby Mac must be a couple deep into the side-bar by last night_jk?
Nash was a couple of years ago now and Sweeney's likely singing 'once bitten, twice shy' on that debacle for this TDL.
If that's the Kreider market this year I'd try for Palmeri, Kovi, Carter, Studnicka, Trocheck, etc. to fill the 2nd RW hole....

I agree, but I think it would be more like Frederic, Heinen and 1st.

I disagree about the Nash trade. They didn't give up that much. Lindgren is menh 4th or 5th dman and the pick, but they also rid themselves of Half of Belesky who you are still paying for and Spooner who is awful. Good job flipping that bum for Strome, Chiarelli wouldn't have made that deal with B's. Had Nash not been concussed, can't really plan for that, he would have re-signed with Bruins for decent money on 1 or two year deal and I think he would have really helped Bruins. More so last year vs. the blues. He and Krejci had chemistry, they just didn't have long enough... He wasn't a superstar, although in 11 regular season games he had a corsi and fenwick of 57/60 which is insane. He could have scored 30 with Krejci, sucks his career ended.

I don’t know exactly what Boston’s wing situation is, or cap space for next season, but I could see them making the overlay as an investment toward extending him. Kreider is from Boston so one would think he’s open to staying there, unlike if he were traded to Edmonton or somewhere else that nobody wants to go. But Kreider is a LW and he isn’t going to be much use if he has to switch to the RW - he doesn’t carry the puck on his off wing and doesn’t really open his hips like a playmaker on the off wing - he’s straight ahead up the LW boards. If you have two guys who can’t come off LW entrenched in the 1&2 lines, this would be a waste of assets.

They would probably swap Debrusk and he will struggle, or they could play either with Coyle and that would be an impressively big/fast line especially if it's Kreider. I would have to assume he and coyle have crossed paths on teams or offseason training.

The concussion only a couple of weeks in Beantown and then he "retired". Yeah it's not his fault but Nash had a history; cautionary tale.

Very reasonable argument. But I would say the Rangers thought more of Lindgren then, and now, than they probably do of Zboril. And the pipeline is jammed with LHD already so I don’t see him tipping a deal or being a guy we would consider. They also tried to make the point that Spooner was an asset but thankfully that experiment didn’t stick. With some luck we turn Strome into something to build around also.

You said it all ^ ^ ^ on Kreiders scouting report (meh).

BOS needs a) 2nd line RW SCORER and b) D-man depth for playoffs.

If Kreider gets the US$5/6/7M being discussed at nauseam on CF, then Krug likely walks and that's not a good deal at all in my books...

i don't understand your logic here, unless you are new to hockey and the process. calling Kreider a meh-rental is as inaccurate as it can get. the guy can play top 6 minutes, top power play and kill a penalty if needed. his speed is undeniable and his intangibles bring importance to the game. not to mention he is in his prime AND playing for his next contract. he has also played in 77 playoff games in his career and his experience going deep into the playoffs is another bonus to which ever team he ends up on. he isn't flashy and does not have that elite status attached to his name, but he is as good as a rental can get, the type of player that tips the scale for which ever team he goes to.

EVERY SINGLE YEAR at the deadline, this site is littered with two types of people - A.) the people that believe their rentals are worth the moon and B.) playoff bound teams that are buyers who want talent for their sh*t prospects because the player they have interest in ISN'T worth it. this is supply and demand and there is no doubt several teams will be driving up the price of Krieder - his worth is merely subjective.

let's be clear, normally the trades that occur happen somewhere between A and B and fans aren't sure whether they are happy or not. if this happens, it usually means that the trade works for both sides. as a Ranger fan, the last team I want Kreider to go to is Boston - 1.) because they have nothing worth giving Kreider up for and 2.) he instantly makes the team better and hate to see Boston win one with him as a part of the team.

The team will give him the Anders Lee/Kevin Hayes contract if Monday comes and no offer is to their liking. They’re playing well at the moment and probably are convincing themselves this is the new normal instead of the last 6 years of inconsistent performance from him. If they keep him, it won’t be a massive disappointment...in the short term.

A left winger (a position they’re all set at) that is a .6 point per game player? If that’s the asking price, just let the rangers go elsewhere. He would be a nice add but isn’t needed. Palmieri will probably go for a similar return, and is a better fit. Maybe figure out what the hell is going on in the league before telling people to give their head a shake.

Yeah, I mean who doesn't have a history... he was only 34 and still had a couple 20 goal seasons in him. I don't know... I just don't know what the Bruins actually gave up? let's assume the Bruins draft Lunkvist with their pick.

Lundkvist and Lindgren for Nash isn't horrible. Maybe I am not giving either guy enough credit, but it seems like Lindgren is a 4 and and I don't know that much about Lundkvist, but he is by no means an sure thing stud.

Getting rid of Belesky and Spooner was big too.

BOS needs are shown above^ ^ ^
Kreider's scouting report from Widowmaker is also above ^ ^ ^ ^

He's not the answer and NOT for that price-tag which is >3 1st's....

if coleman got a 1st and nolan foote then its gonna taek about the same for kreider considering foote is miles and miles ahead of zboril. yes i know coleman has another year but foote was their top prospect. zboril is nowhere close and the bruins prospect pool isnt great
