Reports are out that Edmonton wouldn't trade Puljujarvi for Athanasiou. ... why would they move him for a cap dump and a half ass prospect?

FYI Jesse Puljujarvi is ineligible to play this season due to the fact he wasn't signed by December 1st. So he can't play this year.

Never heard that? Holland would be a fool if Yzerman offered AA straight up for Jesses Puljujarvi. and not accept it It was probably Yzerman that would turn it down before Holland. Yzerman would at least want Puljujarvi+2nd for AA.

So a guy that couldn't crack EDM roster is going to be a #2RW for a cup contender? This of course ignoring the fact that he can't play this year since he wasmt signed by the deadline.

Not really. Puljujarvi's upside is much more than Athanasiou. Holland is smart for not doing that deal

Yeah well that upside is to be determined, Sorry but a guy who's stated on record that he'll never ever play a single game in Edmonton. And has requested a trade and is playing over in Finland. Sorry he doesn't have value Yzerman is the only GM that actually went over to Finland to scout Puljujarvi. Pretty sure Yzerman know's as much about him as any other GM in the league. Right now his value is diminished.

Is Pulujarvi's upside much higher then Athanasiou's?
Not sure it really is, I'm sure Pulujarvi can be a good NHL player but at this point he's very unproven, he's worth a 2nd round pick at best.

If that trade was offered to Holland and he knew he could get AA signed long term he was a moron for not taking it.

Holland isn't trading for AA because there's bad blood with those 2 guys . He and AA have had contract issues for years here abs the last thing Holland wants is dudes he can't work with.

Oops. Forgot he wasn’t eligible. Great point.

But yah there is no way oilers turned down AA for Puls. I don’t believe it. And they don’t have much leverage on a trade for someone who refuses to play there.
