Description

***Tatar trade : Pens get a top-six forward, until 2021, at the cap hit of 2.4 million, and a top-4 d rental...... 2 Good pieces, so they dump Galchenyuk for space, and give up a 1st and 2 good prospects plus an added end-round pick.
***Winnipeg gets a replacement for Byfuglien, at the same cost as Muzzin (2 prospects and a first-round pick). They pay a little more in quality, beause of Petry being a right-handed defenseman.
***Most of the others are depth trades. Carolina, Buffalo, Washington get depth players.
***Los Angeles gambles with house money, sending a mid-range pick and a AHL player for former first-round pick Galchenyuk, see if they can make him better..
***Edmonton gets a scorer for McDavid's line with a very small cap hit.
