Description

Acquire a solid Defender in Shattenkirk that can be locked up long term after his contract is up. and rid yourself of the Lupul deal. Take back a little salary and introduce the rookies in Marner and Matthews. This is now a far better offensive team and stronger on the back end. Leafs may not make the playoffs, but i believe it sets themselves up for good things in the future.

No, can't think any rebuilding team would give up any assets to acquire a one year then UFA in Shattenkirk. Nikki Zaltsiev a 24 year old KHL all star seems to have a lock on RHD. Also Marincin will likely get resigned as a RFA. on defence. Connor Carrick who has played three pro in the AHL/NHL will likely be a spot as RHD also. No team is going to give up any assets to acquire Lupul. Lupul is going to start the year on LTIR, so the Leafs will get some cap relief but if the Leafs have cap room (and they should) it just as advantages to keep Lupul. Robidas will either be on LTIR if possible or "buried"
Hyman, Brown and Leivo (at least two of them) will probably have spots as wingers.

Shattenkirk is overated IMO. I dont like that teade at all.
