Didn't the stars just lose Klingberg? For a team that is supposed to be a contender this year, they may be more interested in this than one would think. I don't think it really makes much sense still but Dallas is going to be nearing panic mode soon. They are turning south fast and need something to help spur them on. (Ceci definitely wouldn't be the saving grace, but he's better than Honka and would at least be worthy of an NHL spot)

Ceci just isn’t that good. He’s not worth the cap hit even on a 1 year deal. Maybe if salary was retained. But I still wouldn’t do Honka + Janmark for Ceci 50% and Petan. If Petan was Moore, than maybe there’s something there. But Janmark is the best player in this deal

I wouldn’t say they’re turning south fast. 7 wins in their last 8 and look like a new team overall. I think for them to take it they’d have to have Ceci at half salary

I don't see a trade here honestly, the reason why TO would move Ceci is to open up cap space so they can bring in something better. Something like moving him for very little and then sending better assets to someone like Vancouver for Tanev or something. Ceci has been far better than he was advertised to be, he's not great by any stretch but he isn't terrible. If he was making 2 million, he'd be a pretty great 3rd pair guy.

I agree with everything you said. Dallas is close to the cap as well so it’s not really a match for either team

Plus, with where TO is currently in their development, Ceci is far more valuable in the lineup than Honka. I am not a big fan of Ceci but I think he's been pretty okay in TO, and I mean that as blandly as I can. He isn't great and he isn't terrible. Unless he can be moved and replaced by someone better, I'd just keep him.

You hit the nail on the head perfectly. Ceci > Honka for sure as of now

I am definitely not a Ceci fan, he is not a very good defender but he's serviceable if he can be moved lower in the lineup.

Agreed. The cap is what scares me. I’d take him at 2.5 per for 3 years or something on those lines
