I think we need cole's veteran presence back there to work with makar and timmins while they develop this year, neither has played a full NHL season before and there is going to be some ups and downs. Zads cannot play top pair, for as big as his hits are his turn overs completely kill any momentum he brings. Unless he improves this year he is gonna be sitting 4/5 in the depth chart. i think Defense is the least of our worries right now

Why would you give up 6 years of control on timmins for 1 year of Faulk... you also become more vulnerable to Seattle expansion Johnson and Faulk have NMC then you need to protect makar and girard, which leaves MacKinnon, landy, rants, and kadri up front
