Description

Marner Offersheet by NJ 6x $12M AAV. Just picked the Devils because they are one of the only teams I see able to offer the type of contract the Leafs would not be able to match without destroying the rest of the team.

Highly doubt Marner actually signs an offer sheet, but if he does I can only see 2 or 3 teams that can actually afford a salary Toronto wouldn't match. If this were to happen, it would provide Toronto a bunch of cap flexibility and 9 first rounders in the next 5 years to use or trade.

Unfortunately the leafs would not be able to sign any of these UFA’s because they will be off the market before an offersheet comes in.

Your theory is right about about the four picks and the 10m cap if Marner does sign elsewhere. Not as devastating as many anti Leaf folks say. But I wouldn't spend all that cap this year especially on Ferland and Dzinkel. Leafs will need long term cap space soon and money can be spend better. Is Tim Heed NHL capable? If he his he's getting a lot more than 1m

Really like the UFA signings on D but overpaying for both of the forwards. I would rather see how Brown and the marlies do with more responsibility first before eating up all that extra cap with UFA signings that don't often pan out
