No the rangers are not taking Callahan even at half price for a third round pick

Just coming from rangers fan side. We have plenty of forwards. Not going to waste a pick on an often injured wash up. They make take him from Tampa but with a pick or prospect coming with him

I don't see Leddy fetching that kind of return.

Why the hell would the entire D plus defensive prospects for simply nothing in return? Who’s playing D? How Hickey isn’t listed in a trade over any one of those players is ridiculous

Are Rasmus Ristolainen and Mikhail Sergachev "nothing"? I've vastly upgraded the defense lol

Went for the Hamonic level of return to a degree. Spread out the years of the picks to get the value down a bit. Not like they're all part of the same draft

Yeah. That trade just reminds me of the Tatar trade between DET and VGK, which was widely considered as a major overpayment from VGK. Don't see anyone making a deal like that again.

At least without a clear upgrade in the level. In this case there's not that.

You are signing a bunch of has beens. What’s the reason? Makes no sense to me. Trading boychuck for Gagner would never happen

By "has beens" I assume you mean Wayne Simmonds because that certainly doesn't apply to Duchene or Kapanen. I had an extra $5M in cap space and to make the team more competitive went for a "prove-it" veteran one year deal rather than play someone less skilled. It has ZERO impact on the long term cap.

The Boychuk trade was an idea of someone who posted earlier today. Isles will need to free up RHD space for Dobson/Wilde (who was traded here obviously) and Boychuk is a candidate. He is from the EDM area and would likely waive to finish his career in his backyard. Sure, Gagner won't contribute much in this post but his contract is expiring and frees up space way sooner than Boychuk playing his deal out would. Look beyond the surface.
