OEL is worth more than Matthews never mind putting in Duclair and also their first.

Take out Lupul (that actually devalues the trade for them) and toss in Reiley and one of marner or Nylander and maybe you're on par.

Are you really saying that OEL is only "good" and that Matthews "potential" is greater? OEL is a top d man in the league. An absolute stud and he is young. You win the SC from the goal line out mate. Even Sid and Gino adapt there game for that.

People are really over valuing AM. He would have been third over all last year in the draft.

Stamkos is staying in Tampa where they can win games and not to a team with half AHL players and half rookies that are still near the cap ceiling.

God this one of worse lineups posted. Gauthier and Kapanen are going to be Marlies next year. Captain Campbell is a nice AHLer not an NHLer. Doubt if Holland and Froese make the Leafs next year.
Cowan is going to be bought out. Greening will be a Leaf more than likely. Gardiner is an NHLer....if he put one waivers he would be claimed by 29 teams. Michalek has a total NMC agreement.

No, you are the confused one. OEL is a superstar 24 year old D man. He is worth too much to ARI to trade him for Matthews.

Yup. Matthews is going to be good but OEL is established royalty at 24. He's young, Hes big, he's one of the best at his position and he's on a cheap contract......

I've said this before, people don't know how good he is simply because he plays in Arizona. Put him on an original 6 team and he'd be in the Karlsson, Subban, Keith stratosphere. Although Matthews looks promising, he may end up being a 50-70 point guy which is still very good but if you can get that same production in a defenceman already, it trumps the center IMO.

This is exactly why I'd demand he be included in any trade for Matthews. Leafs have zero reasons to trade the 1st overall pick. Zona has many reasons to acquire it. If I'm Lou, I simply tell them not to bother calling unless OEL and Strome are coming my way. This is not me saying I think that's fair value, but if you want this kid to be the face of hockey in Arizona including the building of the new stadium...don't bring Lou a 'fair' deal, bring him a clear cut win.
