I think it is highly unlikely that Erik Karlsson resigns in SJS, definitely not before free market, I think he wants to see what other teams offer.
I just want to see the cap hell if he resigns and try to fix it.
M. Karlsson, Donskoi, Braun, Dillon, Dell - they are all expendable. Moving Dell and Braun will be tough, but they are both signed for 1 year only, so it is not that bad. Donskoi wont be resigned because of his inconsistency and to make roster space for youngsters. M. Karlsson might be intersesting 4th liner and PK guy but his cap hit makes it complicated.
Barracuda goalies (Bibeau, Korenar) are not NHL ready, i would give a try to Francouz. He is unproven, but if he is given 1 way contract (I dont think Colorado gives him one) with cap under 1 million, it can be steal.
If Simek is healthy, he playes with Burns. Karlsson and Dillon can help each other, so that leaves Vlasic with Heed or some Barracuda player (Ryan is not resigned).
Pavelski will sign in SJS, important question is money and term. I think he gets less money and longer term (like 6,5 million for 3 or 4 years). He can play with Meier and Couture.
In case of Meier, Doug Wilson always gave bridge contracts, so 2 years, 4-4,5 millon is what i would hoped for.
Second line is Hertl, Kane and someone (currently Radil, but he is not 2nd line player). Maybe some youngster.
Third line depends on whether Thornton resigns. If he does, he said he will take pay cut, so 1 year and 2-3 million might be it. He stays with Sorensen and Labanc. Labanc will definitely get bridge, 3-3,75 million for 2 or 3 years.
4th line will be for Goodrow+Radil and some Barracuda youngsters/europian players that Doug Wilson signs every summer.
The cap might go up to 83 million too, but now it seems Dillon needs to be moved too (or Thornton take bigger discount). For me, having 3 defenders who cost 25,5 million is not a good idea.
Yeah, I think the Sharks would be better off not signing Karlsson. That's just too much money wrapped up in 3 players, and you're going to be looking at Burns, Vlasic, and Karlsson on hefty contracts until their late 30s, which isn't really ideal. You also are over the cap with no forwards as extra skaters.

Yeah I know, thats why i mentioned moving Dillon as well in last paragraph
I dont see a scenario where Wilson signs both Pavelski and Karlsson. not that its not possible but I dont think that is his plan,
I think it is highly unlikely that Erik Karlsson resigns in SJS ... my first sentence in first paragraph I agree with you that resigning Karlsson is unlikely but not because of Pavelski, I believe Wilson will try to sign Panarin/Duchene/Skinner and then trade Labanc for some top 4 d-man to replace Karlsson. But he has not good history with UFA signings, unlike trades, which he wins most of the time.
For Dell, Braun and Milkman I would ask a 4th, 3rd and 5th. You could get more but I feel there would be takers for sure at those prices;maybe kick tires to get more but they are movable. Also Radil should go to the minors; he is 6'4, never hits and has been invisible in the playoffs except for the 4 missed open goals. That's not the type of attention you want. I would prefer Haley over him any day, they both suck, but at least he hits and he's only 5'11. Also any team that signs Karlsson to a 10mil plus deal will regret it, no defensive player is worth that unless they score 100 points a season, witch none currently do.Those are Just my thoughts, this sharks team sure is hard to ACGM with all those NTCs, I've all but given up on it.
