Description
Laine trade is tough.

Idea behind it is that Carolina adds another superstar Fin to address a weakness, in return Winnipeg gets a great DFD to really round out the top 4 and some draft pick depth.

Then, after the 2020 season, Trouba can be moved for a high end 5D and picks/forward depth to allow Niku to play in the top 4

as a jets fan and realist, trouba is for just one more year. like your trades though, seems to helps all teams and the jets cap. with pesce the jets could even trade trouba.

Laine has 3-30 goal seasons by age 20 which makes him only the 4th or 5th player to ever do that, others who have done it are Dale Hawerchuk and Jimmy Carson to name a couple. But yeah let's trade Laine for a 2nd pairing defensive defenseman? Sounds like a good idea.. Lol! It's unbelievable how bad the Laine trades on here are, they all look like a Joe Thorton 2.0 trade.

Jets need a DFD, Canes need another top 6 forward.

It is indeed a good idea. Especially with Vesalainen coming into the fold.

Some of you guys on here are hilarious, ask yourself this should Washington have traded Ovi when he was 21? Cause this is the equivalent of that which would of been a terrible move by the Caps.

I know Pesce is a good defensive defenseman on a good contract but he alone is nowhere near enough value for a generational goal scorer and throwing in a couple crappy picks doesn't even it up either.

I believe that the jets can choose between 1 and 2 years in arbitration if I am not wrong. Correct me if so

Whomever opts for arbitration, the opposite party chooses term of either 1 or 2 years with exception of the final year of RFA which must be 1 year. Arbitration awards can only cover RFA years.

believe you are correct. the other option is the jets have to offer an rfa at his current salary for one year or lose him as a ufa. so trouba could be offered a 5.5m contract and trouba just might take it as it gets him his ufa the following summer.
