Looks pretty good, yes. If Nylander and Olofsson prove to be NHL tier players, then you guys should be a playoff team imo.

Just wondering whether Kings need Ristolainen or not...he'd be a 2nd pair D behind Doughty pretty much all the years he'd spend in LA... But the trade value is there. I think LA wins this one when speaking in value.

The biggest problem is the Carter stated that he might just retire if traded.

I think the Risto trade would’ve been fair if LA wasn’t rebuilding, they’re looking for picks and prospects in return for players like a Toffoli and Carter. Obviously, they could flip Risto for a first and a prospect but they need help on d behind a Doughty. Getting Girgensons on the other hand is useless, I would much rather think that a 2nd/3rd would work over that

LA gets the 2 youngest players in the trade.

Risto still only 24...reason why hes kinda struggled is hes had to play wayyy too many minutes-we all know Doughty can take that kind of workload so I think Risto would be a lot more effective on 2nd pair behind Doughty playing only 18-20 min a night instead of 24-26.

Girgensons flashed a lot of potential early on maybe just needs a change of scenery either way hed be a young cheap bottom 6 depth guy for LA.

I personally think this is probably the most fair Ristolainen trade Ive thought of that makes sense for both teams.

Carter and Toffoli have both been rumored to be on the trade block. LA improves their D depth while getting younger and clearing cap space all at the same time

Yeah everythings his fault till he gets moved and the Sabres are still garbage and Risto excels. Sabres fans need to stop scapegoating one player.

have you ever watched a Sabres game?

He gets walked all time time

He takes runs a guys and leaves his assignment all the time

Hes out of position all the time

He misses super easy breakout passes all the time

He fails to clear the front of the net all the time

He fails to see wide open guys in the offensive zone all the time

trading him away would be addition by subtraction

If it was anything close to that he wouldnt be in the league, your biasing yourself against him

im not saying that he doesnt still have potential

its frustrating because he has all the tools -

former top 10 pick
big and strong
fast
good moves
hard shot
physical

looks like he should be good
only problem-

he has very little hockey sense whatsoever.

look i just play mens league hockey and i know its easy to say it watching from the couch but theres so many times where im like shaking my head at him thinking “what a bonehead play”. maybe he just needs better coaching or something but he has simply not worked out. he plays way too much every night and really just cant seem to play a consistent game - some nights hes a difference maker and other nights hes a pylon

idk but im down to trade him if another GM still has hope he can put it all together because he definitely hasnt yet

If Betterall made this trade, Pegula would fire him immediately.
The Sabres are at least 2 years away from being a playoff team, Carter's stats are no better than Sheary, just 10 years older.
Toffoli career is so erratic that no one could depend upon him from one season to the next.
Ristolainen may have defensive liabilities, but for some reason at least 3 different head coaches has given him top line minutes averaging over 24 minutes during his career.
Girgensons may not be able to hit the net but he has great possession stats and nearly no one can take the puck off of his stick.
I normally can see merits to making deals, this one makes no sense for the Sabres at all. NO DEAL!! shakes head

I like the deal. I just think that because LA has tons of centre prospects coming up so they don’t need Girgensons. They have Akil Thomas, Rasmus Kupari, Gabe Vilardi, Jaret Anderson-Dolan just to point out a few
