None of these trades fix that defense! Or the goaltending situation. So why even do them?

Ummm, what's wrong with the goaltending? Blackhawks have one of the deepest prospect pools in the league on defense (Boqvist, Beaudin, Krys, Mitchell, Carlsson, Jokiharju), we don't need to "fix" the defense at the cost of that future pool.

Why trade for guys for a playoff run if you are going to give up 4/night? Chicago is having no issues scoring, but stopping the scoring against. None of these trades fix that.

Yes but Panarin and Simmonds are great goalie scorers and let's say the Hawks make it to the playoffs, that added boost in goal scoring could make a huge difference because of our terrible defense, and if they don't get far then they have the possibility of resigning both of them. Not only that but we actually look like a team that could make it to the second round due to offense.

The only problem in net that we have is Crawfords injuries and the inconsistency of Cam Ward. Adding Panarin and Simmonds helps add to our scoring depth.

The Flyers say no thanks to your cap dump, fringe NHLer and 6th rounder.

Well I knew it was unrealistic and Artem Anisimov is not a cap dump. First of all, there is a half million cap difference, that's not even enough space to sign a prospect, second of all, Anisimov is not that bad a player, at worst he is a third liner much like Simmonds this season.

A third liner under contract, being overpaid, for 2 years after this one is a cap dump. Plus the Flyers do not need a 3C. We have Giroux, Couturier and Patrick down the middle.

It's not goaltending, the Hawks are taking on the most shots per game in the league....it's the defense. But like I said, with a logjam of defensive prospects, why add to the defense now when at least 2 of the prospects are ready next year? All the talk out of Chicago right now is the Hawks are looking to move defenders not add as they focus on the future.
