Who know the Leafs (30th overall) could fix the Caps (1st overall) ? Actually it seems like a fair to both teams although as Leaf fan, wish Orpik could stay with the Caps.

Crazy right?!
If Orpik was paid as a 3rd pair D I'll gladly keep him on the Caps, but to remain competitive the Caps needs his contract gone. His leadership and his physical play would be missed, but they did pretty fine without him this season.

As a Leafs fan I think this is intriguing but I would have to agree that I wouldn't be taking Orpik back in the deal. He's 35 years old and 5.5 Million cap hit with 4 years left on that deal, not what the leafs want right now.

Orpik actually "only" has three more years including next season. So you play him next year and then buy him out if he's getting to slow. It won't be a problem with all the ELC's you guys got coming up.
