I've been hoping the Isles stick to this thinking since the Lee talks started; the more years that Lee signs, the less money gets (and vice versa):
4 years/$28 mil ($7 mil per)
5 years/$32.5 mil ($6.5 mil per)
6 years/ $36 mil ($6 mil per)
In my opinion there's no way that I extend him for more than 6 years so that's off the table. His offensive production has gone down a bit. He's not exactly blazing passed defenders with his speed, and it is very much becoming a speed game. That all being said, if he wants the most money offered, he can get it for 4 years and move on from there. If he wants to meet in the middle for negotiations then he'll go with the 6x6 and help keep a balanced team together while still getting paid his fair share. My biggest fear is that Lee one day starts to become the player that Ladd has been the last few seasons, and we're already stuck paying him his money obviously.
