As a Stars fan, we probably take that deal. Well done.

its not horrible. I think Demers will get more. Im not sure why so many people think the blues are interested or need Nash. Hes nothing close to what he once was on a big contract, and the blues have solid forward depth. the blues need to figure out what to do with shattenkirk and backes, not add even more financial restrictions.

I wonder if Buffalo makes more sense for Nash... Not sure who Buffalo would be willing to give up for a player they likely lose to free agency in 2 years though.
I suppose he could be a good secondary scoring fit in Buffalo if he were to sign his next contract in the $5 mil per range.

Think the Stars would be interested if there was no salary retained?

Honestly, I don't know. Staal is 29, and we would be abandoning Nichuskin pretty early on.
I was hesitant to accept the first trade. But Staal at 2.8 million is great value, considering I think he's very under appreciated.

I don't really see the stars accepting considering how bad Staal is, unless rate him highly for whatever reason. Also, i think the return on Nash could be much bigger than that

5.7M minus 1.2M retained equals 4.5M. Its impossible to get Staal at 2.8M/year. NYR can't retain more then 50% and i they did, they might as well buy him out. Nichushkin is still young and has a ton of potential. If i'm Dallas i would much much rather keep Nichushkin and sign a UFA Dman for 4.5M. That makes way more sense.

Folks listen to Marco: Keep Nichushkin and spend 4.5m on a UFA Dman....makes 10 times more sense to the Stars. Sorry Ranger fans, unless bad money comes back.....Clarkson for Staal...he's a Ranger.

And Nash....what's this crap about secondary scoring in Buffalo. If the Sabres want to spend 7.8m on a forward scoring, we can think of dozen UFAs better than Nash, and a lot cheaper.
