I guess it might not be all that far off if it is meant to be a bit of a cap dump, but in my opinion, there is no way Edmonton is moving Klefbom without getting a top 4 d-man or a top 6 forward.

its the only way im thinking that they'll get rid of Lucic and his 6mill contract. plus, his best years were under CJ. he might be revived a bit.give him some pp time and net some goals

I agree with you. Klefbom is our BEST defencemen and his contract is coveted by teams around the league, the Oilers would never make that trade because of that reason. And the only way we are getting rid of Lucic is if we don't protect him in the next expansion draft with Seattle. If MTL wants Lucic, then the Oilers would want Brendan Gallagher because of his attitude and for his contract.

alzners contract isnt as bad as lucics. and considerng the oilers cap sitaution, this clears a ton of space to sign someone else. look at what flordia and minny traded to give up bad contracts to vegas

If Lucic did not have the NMC i’d much rather have him than Alzner, even for the extra year and 1.2 per. The NMC is a big problem. Especially with another expansion draft looming. Being forced to protect him could be devastating.

i think teams wont get tricked like they did last time with vegas. they have 2 more seasons to prepare too

Depends on the expansion draft rules. But if players with NMC have to be protected there are a number of players that nobody will want to add. Looch will be one of them.
