I can understand going after Simmonds or Pysyk, but why Gudas? Yeah he’s tough but he’s overpaid even at 3M and probably won’t do well in a top-4 spot

Needs to be more basic. Just find a guy and get him at all costs. Faulk is my go to, get them to retain to fit the cap in 2020

I think Gudas is underpaid to be honest. Yeah, he's physical and all, but he's pretty good defensively and can efficiently move the puck up to the forwards.

Cost certainty helps here too. With Gudas and Pysyk's contracts for next year's cap crunch it'll help avoid a disaster once Marner and Matthews are extended to mega deals.

The Leafs just have to bring up a few kids on ELCs and find and sign veterans to league minimum who want a shot at the cup.
