Seems like you have jut traded a cap problem Zaitsev to Ducks. Why do the Wild do that trade?

LMAO, Kapanen won't get that much from WIld nor would they want to make that trade, you won't get Montour for that, Ozhiganov wants more per year more like 2M+, Marner won't settle for anything less than 9M, Gardiner wants more, you also don't have the minimum amount of players on the team which is 23 so needless to say still in cap hell. Zaitsev is a cap dump you are honestly daft if you think you would ever get montour in that deal without Nylander.

All these trades make no sense. Why would Leafs trade all their center depth?

why is AZ trading a presumably high 2nd rd pick for a fringe NHL'er?

Well the trade takes place next year, after Lindholm is a UFA during the summer. So then Arizona gives up two picks for him. Now does it makes sensesarcasm ? Now it makes even less sense.

Yeah, absolutely. When McDavid got his 12.5 million dollar contract it was 16.67 % of the salary cap. When Kane got his big contract it was 15.22 % of the cap. Crosby's first big contract was 17.3 %, Malkin's was 15.3%. Even if Matthews comes on the lower end of that and takes 15% of the cap, that's 12.3 million if the cap goes up to 82 million (what most project). If Matthews take a bit of a discount and only asks for 14% that'll be 11.5 million. And Marner is tearing it up right now, even if he slows down he'll still end up over a point per game and at least in the top 10 of scoring. Expect him to take at least 11 or 12% of the cap. Correy Perry got 13.4% on his big contract, Jamie Benn took 13%, Draisaitl took 11.33%, Tarasenko took 10.5%. If Marner asks for 11% that's 9 million, if he asks for 12% its 9.5 million.

I can see Matthews getting 11.5 and Mitch 9-9.5 but doesn't mean he will. If Matthews (maybe even Marner) wanted he could go somewhere else and get the max deal. I just don't see that happening. I heard Matthews was almost done and it was around Tavares money.

That'd be very interesting if he took around 11 million. That's a pretty big discount in terms of cap hit %

Any thing less then 15 mill is a discount. But that's not the point. Leafs have a hard cap to deal with. If there was no cap he could get what ever he wanted.

He is a fringe NHL'er. He has one goal and 8 pts. If Toronto actually needed skill, he would not be on the team. I mean, he is fine - especially for the Leafs, but he would never get you a 2nd round pick. Ever.

Oh definitely not unless a team is desperate and stupid (shout out Benning and Chia) lol

I was just pointing out to put some respeck on his name. He's very underrated and has played a more utility role.
