Description
Through the month of august I'll make a quick review of all the 31 teams and the could improve in short or long term. Today the Ottawa Senators. Where to start with this team.... a year ago they were one goal away from reaching the Stanley Cup finals. In one year Turris, Brassard, Phaneuf were trade during the season. Owner Eugene Melnyk asked fans to come to the arena if not he could ddcide to relocate the team, Hoffman and Karlsson's wife argued on the Internet which lead to Hoffman getting trade. Karlsson asked to be traded, Anderson wants out. Stone statut is in the air and Duchene acquired in the Turris trade said in is time in Colorado that he wants to play for a team that can compete for the Cup which isn't gonna be the case this year in Ottawa. Oh and if the team wants to tank well Colorado got their 1st round pick this year that could be Hugues who is consider as a excellent player. All that put together makes things interesting in Ottawa they got 3 good contracts that they could trade for nice assets in return and start from scratch but at the same time they need to have a competitive team for fans to come because Ottawa isn't a big market like Toronto or Montreal were fans come even if the team is bad, Ottawa is a fragile market and the relationship between the fans and the owner is at the worst. Based on all that I think the Senators should still try to trade their assets make it a lost season, acquire players, prospect and picks in order to start the season after this one. After all they got interesting prospect and young players in Tkachuk, Brown, White for forward, Chabot is gonna be their #1 defenseman for the next couple of years and Gustafson is their goalie on the future.
Trades
1.
OTT
  1. Foote, Cal
  2. Johnson, Tyler
  3. Paquette, Cédric
  4. 2019 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Tampa is already a favourite to win the Cup but with the Leafs getting Tavares, Tampa will feel the need to react. Karlsson and Hedman would be the best pair in the league. Since Florida is a tax low state Karlsson resign a 8 years 10M.
TBL
  1. Karlsson, Erik
Additional Details:
During the summer two teams came at the top of the list for Karlsson: Dallas and Tampa Bay. I choose Tampa Bay over Dallas simply because in order to get Karlsson the team involve need to trade their better prospect and Dallas wasn't interested in doing so while Tampa Bay could be doing it. The deal happens between the start of training camp and the start of the regular season.
2.
OTT
  1. Faulk, Justin
  2. Rask, Victor
  3. 2019 2nd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Rumor surronding Faulk have started since Dundon arrive in Carolina. Plus with Duchene in Carolina, Rask become their 4th center which he isn't. Additionnal 2nd round pick of 2020 if Duchene resign with Carolina.
CAR
  1. Duchene, Matt
Additional Details:
Carolina isn't that far from being in a playoff spot. Duchene will be their #1 centre. Trade happens between Jan.1 and the trade deadline.
3.
OTT
  1. Bjugstad, Nick
  2. McGinn, Jamie
  3. 2019 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
I don't think Bjugstad is on Florida long term plans and McGinn is a versatile winger and could help the younger guys in Ottawa.
FLA
  1. Stone, Mark
Additional Details:
One of the best 2 way forward in the game. On a already big offensive team. Florida will be in the race of the playoffs and will look for help.
4.
OTT
  1. 2020 3rd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
The only weakness on Winnipeg team is the backup goalie which Anderson will bring an experience goaltender in case of a injury and is good backup for Hellebuyck.
WPG
  1. Anderson, Craig
Additional Details:
Deadline deal. Ottawa retains half the salary. Anderson agree the move to play for a team that aspire the Cup.

Good job, but i think that johnson wont waive his nmc to go to ottawa. That being said, tampa might need to give sergachev to get Ek65.
I think OTT will at least want a 1st for duchene. If I were Dorion, I would try to get atleast 1st for each for of Ek65, duchene and Stone.

way underselling on stone. only getting one good player, a pick, and a cap dump. Stone should at least haul two top notch prospects

Amazing. Ottawa isn't in as bad as a spot as everyone says they are.

1) They have a lot of really good prospects in the system;
2) Their home rink will be moved to Downtown by 2020 hopefully (the Lebreton deal is essentially done) AND the O-train (Metro) is going up up this year. This is huge for attendance. ATM the rink is terribly located.

All in all, this likely scenario would only happen around the trade deadline, so they're going to be somewhat competitive until then. They don't have their 1st which sucks but not the end of the world. With the return or signings rumored, I think they can get back on their feet in the next 2-3 years. Which is fine, because in the next 2-3 TOR and TBL are going to be juggernauts.

Also, I like the value on Anderson but, don't think Winnipeg can afford him under the cap.

Stone is not going to s divisional rival, OTT refused to trade Hoffman for a better return in the division, they are not trading stone to FLA, and TBL cannot keep EK, they do not have the cap space this year or next without moving out half their roster.
