Daniel Pribyl won't be a 2nd line player next year and milan michalek isn't even near of a 1st line player
Lines are not a concern. For the most part they change regularly through each game, never mind through out an entire season. No point in paying much attention to them.
The key here is, the Flames transferred Wideman's cap dollars to a position of need, right wing. In the process they freed up $1,250,000 cap space and opened a spot for Nakladal to re-sign. Michalek also has good size, and speed. Also things that are important for this roster.
Michalek is a veteran complimentary player. The drivers of that line (if he happens to be on it) are 23 year old Gaudreau, and 21 year old Monahan. They carry that line no matter who else is on it, all the other guy has to do is not drag it down, which Michalek is capable of unless he's injured, and he is injury prone. That's fine as well because all that will do is open up a roster spot or free up some ice time for a younger player like Shinkaruk, Pribyl, Poirier, etc.
The other key thing, Michalek is a UFA at seasons end. so no long term commitments to a 30+ player who is injury prone.
As for Pribyl, if the rumors are true and the Flames sign him, he will be given opportunity all up and down the right side of this line up, and that includes lines one , two and three. He is just 23, has size, skill and a big body. The Flames will want to see what they have with him so you can bet he will eventually see time with all of our top three centers.
