Im not taking on two bad chicago contracts to get a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick. I'm in it for 8th overall, or nothing at all

Fair enough but I think Seabrook is still a capable defencemen, he just has an ablbatross contract. I don't think Chicago would give up the eight unless Vancouver included a roster player like Baertschi and even then I'm not sure.

Both the Seabrook and Ladd contracts are too long to take on... remember that Swedish winger we're still paying?
I believe the preference should be shorter contracts like Callahan/MacDonald/Spezza/etc.

Yeah but the Canucks have and will have the cap space for quite some time. The only players in the foreseeable future to receive large increases in salary are Brock Boeser and Pettersson.
