Very specific draft scenario with DET

Description
Idea I thought of.

If Andrei Svechnikov is available at #3, would DET be willing to give up Mantha to move up and get him? Habs would move down to #6, but also send over the last pick of the 2nd rd from WSH.

Any thoughts? Again I only see this as plausible if CAR doesn’t pick Svechnikov.

Detroit has few good young assets, I can't see them trading Mantha just for a few spots in the draft. # 6 looks an NHLer too.

This is more from a sense that DET want Svechnikov above all other players. Also the fact that they have his brother playing for them.

I would say that it is unlikely that Svechnikov is not taken second. If he was skipped upon by Detroit, then why would Detroit give up a good, powerful forward to get him instead of someone like Wahlstrom or Boqvist? Also, I think Montreal wants Zadina more than anything, so I am not sure if it makes sense for them. At the same time, I see your opinion and I agree that Svechnikov would definitely fit in Detroit.

Yikes, I really don't like YOUNG brothers on the same team/organization. Could be a tendency to be looking over their shoulder, managing/coaching their sibling instead of worrying about their own game.
Yes, I do understand the trade from Detroit's view if they are so enthralled with Svechnikov though. Who do think the Habs pick at # 6?

Jesperi Kotkaniemi is rumoured to be the Habs main target as the best center in the draft.

Wings would say a hard no...trading 2 young assets for one..& that one is NOT a D or elite centre... They would not be interested.. Wings will happily keep mantha & draft likely D man..if wings trade #6 they will trade back in top 10 to collect MORE assets.. Cheers

I dont the the wings would be interested at all in trading Mantha to move up. I think trading for the wings 6th overall and the 30th overall (from vegas) is more realistic for the habs. The habs could still choose from 3 of the 5 players: Bouchard, Hughes, Kotkaniemi, Tkatchuk and Wahlstrom.

Remember we're talking MB here the guy that gave up Galchenyuk for Domi he isn't that bright and Mantha+Detroit's #6OA is worth more then the #3 pick and Mantha isn't going anywhere and neither is Larkin. Detroit says Hell No to this deal.
