Oilers Get Vet Leaders

Created by: Leafatic
Team: 2016-17 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 26, 2016
Published: Mar. 26, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So I know I usually only post leaf rosters but my brother in law and I were chatting and we came with an idea on how the oilers right the ship.....LEADERSHIP. They lack a lot of it right now and need some. so I proposed this roster to him and he agreed that the leadership I brought in might not win a cup next year but will help help the Halls and McDavids to be better leaders which will lead to cups down the road. So Hamonic becomes the leader of your Defense, Trevor Lewis, Max Talbot, and Steve Ott show the young forwards what it takes to win Championships. I also put Ference on Rookie LTIR due to that he is rumoured to be retiring this offseason.

Interesting trades. Hamonic would be a solid pickup.

I agree that the Oilers have lacked the veteran experience and leadership, they would say the same thing. Past GMs have tried to supplement the team but have picked the wrong leaders to do so, ie Ference(great guy but couldn't play at a high enough level anymore). I would say Ott falls into that category.

I like the idea of Lewis, have never been a fan of Talbot, Klefbom is worth more than Duclair and he is our best defenseman so trading him for a winger weakens our weakest position. The Hamonic trade I would love but doubt that they would. Jonas Brodin has regressed the last season or two so I would be very cautious trading for him, would rather have Klefbom.

Good job, I think you are on the right track just wrong players IMO

Well we were thinking that both Lewis, Talbot, and Ott know what it takes to win Championships. Now I suggested a 3 way trade Hopkins to minn for brodin then Reinhart, Brodin for Reider, Tikhonov.

I like a lot of these trades and think it provides a path forward for the Oilers. My only beef is that I think it will take a lot more than Yakupov to get Hamonic. I would suggest using Klefbom and a 2nd in a deal for Hamonic and maybe Yakupov and Reinhart (plus more?) for Duclair?

Klefbom is a stud. Terrible trade because the Oilers don't need to trade their best defender for a good rookie winger, they have enough wingers. Other than that it's a good roster.

Harmonic is known as a defensive Dman. Yakapov is known as offensive wingers. Point totals this year, Harmonic 21, Yakapov 19. Yak is crap. No value. A fourth liner. Unworthy of being mentioned on these posts.
