You could have had Burrows for free when we waived him so sure.

Am I the only one who kind of thinks that Staal may be more valuable than Burrows in some ways? Then again, it might not matter much because both of them will be on the injured reserve all year...

I think NYR are better off without a 5.7 million cap hit long term. Burrows is only one more year on the books.

Hold on I just realized how bad Staal's contract is, nvm Ottawa says no.

It'd be 3 years at 5 million. Whether or not you retain Karlsson, there is still a hole to fill at depth defenseman, and assuming you dump one of your forwards after this coming season, you'll have space to retain him. I figured he'd actually fit well in your trap.

Burrows is terrible, but he's only terrible for one more season, and you can just send him down to the AHL to be a mentor to young guys. Marc Staal is also really bad, but he's making twice as much for three times as long. It would be a completely stupid move for Ottawa
