    You could have saved cap by only signing Hagelin for 3.5, only signing Miller and Fast for 1 mil each, and not signing Volchenkov and just re-signing Mcilrath for less, but other than that, I like it.

    Yeah I agree with you on that but I've been playing around with different scenarios. This is the "Rangers forced to overpay RFAs to avoid a holdout" scenario. I actually think Stepan will get 5.7, Hagelin will get 3.6-3.8 and Miller/Fast will get 1.1-1.2. It's the high ball estimates. With McIlrath, I would prefer not to have him as a 7th defenseman because that would only stunt his development even more. Hunwick is very capable in a 6th d-man role and I think Skjei and Volchenkov will be interchangeable.
