First of all Pettersson would be on an ELC which stands for entry level contract. Rookies first get these when they first enter the NHL. The maximum a player can get payed on an ELC (entry level contract) is $925k which means $925,000. You can't pay him $9,500,000 period. Second that lucic trade is horrendous, a 1 for 1 with eriksson doesn't work. You would need more assets from Edmonton. Eriksson at least has less years left on his 6,000,000 deal. Eriksson is also more skilled than lucic and Eriksson is a two way player too. Del zotto will easily get a better return than that if he is traded. 4th rounders are for players who are barely in the line up but are there anyway. Del zotto is not one of those. Gagner deal is probably the only decent one here because at least spezza only one year left on that horrendous contract and we get a third.
