Severe underpayments - you really think AM is going to take a 5 year deal at $9.5M hometown discount? Try 8 at $11.5 to $12M minimum bub. JVR is going straight to FA and will get paid.

That lineup doesn't look good.

I look forward to the day when the rfa's are signed so this debate over Matthews cap hit can end. All these guys that are so adamant they know are going to be shocked.

Talk is that Jame Van Riemsdyke wont accept any thing less then 6 years $36 million to resign back with the Leafs, He will go elsewhere if that's the offer.

I could see Matthews getting 5years at 9.5M. Similair to what Tavares/Toews and other superstars have done in the past.

A guy like Brown is going to want more than 1.1 Mil a year for a 20+ goal scorer.

That ended with McDavid and Eichel - you think Matthews is looking at JT's deal from 5 years ago? No, he is looking at what CM and JE just got.

What do you estimate the AM deal is going to look like? Shock me!

Look at Stamkos signed for less than 10M, I wouldn't be surprised if he signed 9.5 maybe for a shorter term.

Certainly JVR is going to get more than that. You've squeezed some players to fit near the cap. I'm as interested in anyone to what Matthews and other sign for. Certainly Matthews would demand and receive at least 10m Eichel money if signed long term. Would the Leafs take the chance of signing Matthews short term? Kyle Baun on the team?

No point. It'll never end until they sign.

Shock was probably the wrong word, Eichel was a bit of a shock but as a team when you've got nothing going for you other than a past 2nd overall pick, you can afford to throw money around.

I remember when Kadri needed a new deal and everyone was saying he was going to be in the 6-7M range. 4.5 x 6 was a good deal for both.

Don't listen to the talking heads that do the pre game show.

Please try not to contradict yourself. If you have heard nothing less than 6 years $36 million and that is the offer then it is still possible that he would accept that offer since it isn't less than. Just saying!
