Additional Details:
Similar to the Drouin for Sergachev trade last summer. Dallas gets an established top 2 defenceman that will hopefully push them over the edge into becoming a cup contendor. Buffalo needs a slight re-tool and adds a blue-chip prospect who can hopefully be ready to play top 4 minutes in 2018-2019.

"Similar to Drouin-Sergachev" trade, which ended up with MTL losing in that trade badly. If that's the case, why would Dallas do that? I get that Ristolainen is great D, but we have no real need for 1st pair RHD since we have Klingberg. In future, Heiskanen-Klingberg will be one of the most dangerous pairs in NHL. Therefore, I'd say no to that trade. The value however isn't that far off.

Not a fan of trading defense for defense. We could have a plethora of forward prospects after this upcoming draft(being realistic about the lottery). Would probably be better trading offense for defense.

It really would even be similar to Drouin for Sergachev because it's a defense for defense swap. Besides, Dallas needs a LHD to play with Klingberg long term because Methot isn't the guy

I feel thats an overpayment for ROR from Carolina's standpoint. They already have enough 3rd line centers, not giving up that much for another one.

WIll be one of the most dangerous pairs? Yikes...I get you are high on Heiskanen and klingberg is pretty solid but Heisk hasnt even played a game of North American hockey yet. You have no idea how he will transition or what his ceiling will be till he gets over to NA ice and against a high level of pro talent.

I think 3rd line is even pushing it. He's clearly a career AHL'er at best..... rolling eyes

True, I can't be absolutely certain. But let's say I've high expectations on him. I've seen him playing in Finland and he's been amazing.

I was wondering how he is looking during the season, he didnt look great the WJC, had higher expectations for him at the tourney and he seemed off to me

Yes, the WJC was a bust. Not only from him, but the whole team.

In the finnish elite league, he has been the best d-man, although he has suffered from a couple of injuries. Probably going to win the best d-man trophy of the league (can't recall the name of that trophy). Equivalent to the NHL's Norris-trophy though.

And in the Olympics he performed decently.

Addition: Probably won't win that trophy due to missing half of the season because of several injuries.

He may be a Jordan Staal but that means he is a 2C at worst. Not saying I like the deal at all but saying he is a 3rd liner is a fairly substantial exaggeration.
