Going to cost you a lot more to dump Seabrook on someone. Also going to be probably $3M more than that to sign Ellis and JVR.

????? Even if Coyotes lose OEL, there are a lot better ways to spend 6.8m than on Seabrook, and Coyotes keep their picks too. Heck sign Ellis for 6.8m

Seabrook isn't going anywhere.

The cap is going up this summer to 82-85 so it's not like Seabrook is preventing this team from improving via free agency. So the Hawks really don't HAVE TO trade Seabrook.. Of course Bowman would move him if he got an offer, however you can bet he's not shopping him with assets to rid himself of the contract.

Besides, in a few years Seabrook's salary will fall to 5 per (he's making 9 per now) so he will be an easier sell - especially with the rising cap.

I don't understand people... So many options besides trading Seabs. You could keep him then expose him in the expansion draft or use an honorary buyout if we have another lockout. Both options are better than giving up assets to get rid of him.

1. I do think the Blackhawks value Seabrook's leadership. It's fine to let him play 3rd pair minutes for at least the next few seasons
2. What makes his contract tough to trade isn't the cap hit. It's the years remaining. No GM wants to trade for 6 years of a player's 33+ age seasons. That's not a cap floor while rebuilding for 3 years time frame like we saw AZ do previously.
3. When AZ took on a few bad contracts, they got a prospect and/or picks as well. When Carolina took Bickell's contract with 1 or 2 years remaining, the Blackhawks had to include Tuevo. That's how bad contract trading works.
