Karlsson (Unrealistic, but just for fun)

Created by: rangersandislesfan
Team: 2018-19 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 2, 2018
Published: Mar. 2, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't think Ottawa will trade Karlsson, but this is just for fun. I think it would be a huge mistake, but it's fun to think about what he might get traded for IF he's traded.

Tavares, de Haan, Nelson and Pulock at those cap hits is just as unrealistic

Should they be getting more or less?

Is that a serious question? They are all underpaid.

I agree with the exception of Pulock. the term there is more the problem than the money. I could see him taking a 1 or 2 year bridge deal at that price to establish himself further.

10.25M, even in the NHL, is a lot of money. De-Haan i put on a 1 year deal just to see how he plays next year cause it's kinda like what they did last year. They signed him to a 1-year deal to say, 'we'll bring you back for the money you want next year if you play good enough.' and he's been injured this year so they can try again. Nelson i gave the same contract as Pulock. Maybe more like 3M?

Tavares is a franchise player. Look at what other franchise players got in the last couple years. McDavid @ $12.5M, Price @ $10.5M... I guarantee if the Isles offer is $10.25M, Tavares walks. There's a dozen teams lined up to bid for his services. As for de Haan, he's heading into the prime of his career. If the Isles are offering another one year deal and a cut in pay, de Haan will turn to the UFA market and be offered much more. If I'm being honest, looks like you cut contracts wherever you could to BARELY get under the cap. Good news is, the cap will be between $78M-$82M next year, so you could actually offer more.
