Why does TOR want another Centre? They'll most likely be moving Nylander to centre soon so this really isnt something TOR needs to address. It's the defence they have to get.

Becuase you can never have too many C's especially when you have the option of using Nylander on the wing and even RNH on the wing. Also, Nylander may still not be ready in Babcocks eyes yet.

I think the only way Edmonton would make that deal was if we were willing to sell low on Zaitsev, but that's pretty counter-intuitive to the Leafs current management philosophy. It would make more sense to give him a healthy year next year to at least try to maximize his value. Alternatively, you might look to Arizona to make a deal, but I am not sure the sort of return you'd get from Arizona based on the iffy injury-riddled year he's had. I'd also like to see if the Leafs can get super creative and find a way to deal with Florida to bring and fit in Ekblad's big contract. Either way, Liljegren will not be NHL-ready next season and I'd doubt the Leafs would push up his development. I do suspect that the Leafs will be trading the rights of at least JVR pre-draft, if not Bozak's and Komarov's as well, for draft picks, in order to stock pile to make some sort of blockbuster deal to add a defenseman. Finally, I think John Carlson will end in New Jersey or Vegas.
