How do you know? Did they lose out in the top 10 draft already?

Yes. It's safe to say they will be in the top 10 this year. Theyre 3 points ahead of Buffalo

Please look at capfriendly Ottawa, they have Penguins 1st and I think I would rather have Ristolainen as well.

Thats a 2018 1st. "2019 2nd turns to 1st if Hoffman scores 35 goals" Ottawa would have used it before the 2019 draft

the sens traded their 2018 first to Colorado in the Duchene trade but it is top ten protected to which it will defer to 2019. As Vinnylou said. But as I said, Ottawa is all but guaranteed to have a top 10 pick, barring a miracle run (that will piss off their fans more). They are 10 points away from the 11th position and only 3 points ahead of Buffalo. Thus they pick they traded will be deferred to the 2019 NHL draft, meaning in 2019 they will not have a first...
