But all joking aside. Maybe we come to the conclusion that this team is not going to do well without Matthews (if he should be out for the long term). I think now is the time to trade away Bozak and JVR. It was reported by Dreger yesterday that teams would have a 1st, and an 'A' prospect for JVR.

Leafs can pretty much glide for the next six weeks and still finish third in the Atlantic. Why worry. Aaltonen gets his change to show if he's an NHLer.

With 21 points ahead of Florida you have a point. Easy schedule ahead they can cruise by and only hope this is not a serious injury and is back in time for the playoffs.

The Maple Leafs I'm sure would like an extra Defenseman for a few playoff pushes. That's why all the speculation about Karlsson or McDonagh have come up. I truly think these trades are fair, though.

He is only day to day right now. Babcock said his injury will not change their deadline approach. I do not think this it is to serious.

I get not wanting to lose them for nothing but trading them away for assets that dont help now is going to hurt in the playoffs. JVR owns boston, you really dont want him for a first round match up.

Regardless of Matthews injury the Leafs should sell. Pittsburgh adding Brassard makes it even tougher to come out of the East.
The probability is low for success in the playoffs and there is a better chance the Leafs would get immediately better removing the free agents and get better down the road with added assets.

There probably isn't any true Karlsson or McDonagh trades. It's all just rumours on sites like this. You really think the Leafs management would sacrifice the future for any player who probably even advance the Leafs one round?
